Northern Nevada favorite Bobby Garrison railed to the win at yesterday's WORCS race in Primm, Nevada, taking over the WORCS points lead with two rounds in the books. It looks as though Garrison, mounted on a privateer Kawasaki, is going to be a serious contender for the 2011 WORCS title.
Garrison won both motos on the weekend, and fellow northern Nevadan Justin Soule turned in a solid ride with fourth and fifth-place moto finishes, earning fourth overall and jumping to eighth in series points.
You can check out the full race report here on the WORCS web site.
Testa Motorsports just released their team line-up for 2011. Looks like they'll be well represented with this squad.

The kids are riding well in this video, but I did chuckle when Jake Lyon says near the end, "I try to go to the gym every day, so, like, four to five days a week." But I'll assume that was a slip of the tongue rather than a failure of the home-schooling system.

Rising star Brian Sjogren had a good day at the REM race at Glen Helen last weekend, topping all the SoCal locals (and apparently a bunch of visiting Swedes) with a 3-1 moto score in the 450cc Pro class. Check out MXA's online report here.
And also take note of the blurb that mentions Sjogren's fast family, including big brother Tony Evans. Way to get some electronic ink, guys.

If lightly-clothed women and kilt-clad men offend you--Wilson is Scottish by birth, after all--then this video isn't for you. But if you're cool with those things, you'll also be rewarded by the sweet sound of a very healthy Kawasaki as Wilson goes out to test in the second half of the video. Man that thing sounds strong.

Local Pro and nice guy Scott Stillmock is now working with his friends at Nevada Motorcycle Specialties. Stop by and say hello next time you need an accessory or a part for your orange bike.
With some solid results in the 250 West thus far, including a seventh at the L.A. SX, this Australian has a shot to follow in the footsteps of countrymen Reed, Byrne and Metcalfe.
Nothing said cool in the 1980's more than JT Racing. With riders David Bailey, Broc Glover, Ron Lechien, Rick Johnson, Jean-Michel Bayle and countless others on the brand, plus super-clean and cutting-edge designs, it was hard to beat JT during its Golden Age. As a 60cc rider, I desperately wanted to sport the Bonehead-pattern gear that Ron Lechien wore in 1988, but alas, my seven-year-old frame wasn't even close to big enough for a size 28 pant, and there was no kids line with the Bonehead motif.
It took me a long time to get over that.
Anyhow, after falling off the radar in the late '90s, JT is back, and to celebrate they brought out some of their most prominent stars of the past (and some of their bikes too) for a photoshoot.
Here's the information on the Memorial Ride Day planned for the late Nathan Woods, as well as the details on the Memorial Fund set up to support his wife and children.

The off-road motorcycle community was deeply saddened when the news arrived that 2-time WORCS Champion Nathan Woods had passed away in a motorcycle accident last Friday during a practice session for the opening round of the WORCS.
Woods is survived by his wife Amanda and their two sons Nathan Jr and Braxton. Woods long-time friends FMF/KTM rider Kurt Caselli and his former mechanic Charles Jirsa have gathered some of Woods’ closest friends to organize a ride day with all proceeds going directly to the Woods family.
The ride day will be held at Glen Helen Raceway on February 23, 2011. A $20.00 admission fee will be charged to all riders with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the Woods family. Gates will open at 9:00am on the morning of the ride day and an open practice session will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm. A silent auction will also be held until 4:00pm with all proceeds going to the Woods family. If you have any items you would like to donate to the silent auction please bring them to the track on the day of the ride.
Please help us spread the word by encouraging your whole family and friends to come out and ride to raise money for the family of an off-road icon that will never be forgotten.

And the Memorial Fund info:
| Nathan Woods passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the age of 32, from injuries sustained during the open practice session for the first round of the WORCS series in Taft, CA. Nathan is survived by his wife Amanda and their two sons, Nathan Jr. and Braxton. Woods, with more WORC’s wins to his name than any other rider in series history as well as two WORCS Championships to his credit, had joined the Carbon Raptor Stillwell Performance Racing for the 2011 season. Since joining the team, Woods had bonded well with his young teammate, Kevin Rookstool, and was very excited and motivated to begin the season with the new team and to help mentor Rookstool throughout the year. “The entire team is extremely saddened by Nathan’s tragic passing. We were all so excited about this season and the opportunity to work with a great man and champion like Nathan and were confident he would have been a front runner in both the WORCS and EnduroCross series. We will race this season with heavy hearts, but knowing that Nathan will be with us, as demonstrated by Kevin’s amazing 6th overall finish yesterday despite the circumstances,” said Team Owner Alan Stillwell. “Everyone at the RiderDown Foundation is deeply saddened by the loss of Nathan Woods this past weekend,” said Bruce Vermeulen, President of RiderDown. “He was a great ambassador for our sport and will be missed greatly. We are accepting donations to help the family during this very difficult time and will be sending an initial check from previous fundraising efforts immediately in memory of Nathan. 100% of all donations mentioning the Nathan Woods Memorial Fund will be given directly to the family.” Payments can be made through your PayPal account or with any major credit card with all proceeds going to support Nathan’s family. When submitting your donation please enter into the notes field that it is for the Nathan Woods Memorial Fund. Please visit www.RiderDown.org and their Donate Page HERE to help. Nathan’s local Templeton, CA Rabobank location has also started a Nathan Woods Memorial Fund and will be accepting donations by check or credit card at any of their locations nationwide with all proceeds going to the Woods family. Powersport Grafx will be donating #54 Never Forgotten helmet stickers that will be available shortly. Please stay tuned to www.stillwellperformance.com or their Facebook page for more updates and information on how to assist the Woods family. RiderDown Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping responsible off road motorcyclists and ATV racers who have been injured while riding. Proceeds are used to provide assistance to the riders and their families when faced with medical expenses and related issues. Our Tax-ID for your year-end deduction is: 47-0955896 | ||||
