You know an event has taken off when it gets its own set of commemorative graphics. Check out these Guts Racing-produced graphics that feature the Nuclear Fallout theme. You should be able to see them stuck to KTMs at area Wal-Mart locations now (look for the bike hanging from the ceiling) or you can click on the image below to see a bigger version.
If you're a fan of the events that Nevada Motocross Development puts on--and those include the races at Stead and the Fallon Fairgrounds--then you should keep an eye on NMXD's new web site at nevadamx.com. It's a new design that will give you the scoop on everything that NMXD is up to nowadays.
Nevada Motorcycle Specialties and Sierra Motocross Racing Association have teamed up to host a special, SMRA-members-only sale tomorrow night. So if you like saving money and the feeling of exclusivity, consider paying a visit (and new SMRA members are welcome too.)
Fans of golf and motocross may know that Rickie Fowler, 2010 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, is also a capable motocrosser. He pulls off a pretty impressive stoppie-to-putt maneuver in this clip from Puma, but I secretly think that Rickie asked to do this video simply to bring his YZ onto a golf course. Talk about the perfect excuse.
Justin Barcia hasn't been the most consistent rider on the circuit this year, but his amazing speed and kinetic riding style have made him consistently entertaining. Watch this video that follows his amazing 450cc debut at Unadilla, where he battled the title contenders on his way to an impressive 3-3 finish for third overall.
I met Drake McElroy when we were both 80cc Juniors, following a moto in which we diced a little bit at Silver State Raceway in Carson City. We chatted at his truck for awhile, and I remember Drake had short, bleached hair at the time, which seemed punk-rock and pretty awesome to me.
Over the years, Drake, who grew up in Fernley, shifted from racing to freestyle, a discipline which seemed to suit his creativity and bike-handling skills well. And now he has his own show on Fuel TV, which features his exploits as he travels the world as a rider and freestyle judge. It premieres tomorrow, Monday August 15 at 10 pm EST.
Drake is an original, and I'm betting his show will be too, so give it a look if your cable provider is kind enough to provide Fuel (and you might want to consider switching if they're not, because Fuel has some excellent shows nowadays.)
Our friends at Tech One Designs are joining forces with Pulp MX to help a Russian privateer in need. Check out the press release below.

PulpMX and Tech One Designs are proud to reveal their collaboration in support of our Russian friend Evgeny Mikhaylov for the remaining National rounds. Regular PulpMX readers are fully aware of our excitement over the Kraor Meat and TLR Performance-backed Russian and his participation in the US motocross series. We are also excited to announce that Fly Racing and X-Brand Goggles have joined us in helping make Evgeny's journey to the remaining rounds go as comfortably as possible.
Tech One Designs' owner, Jonathan Lee adds, "We here at Tech One are excited to support Evgeny in his efforts for the remainder of the 2011 season. Despite the challenges of being in a foreign country and facing the world's toughest competition for the first time, his motivation and tenacity have been proven by his impressive success thus far. We hope that our support will further aid him in achieving his goals this year."
Evgeny has been very excited about this support and when asked how it changes his view of his competitors, he replied, "I must break them." (not really...)
Go Evgeny!
Check out Evgeny's look for the remainder of the outdoor season below.
Loretta Lynn's means a lot of things to American motocross, but at its essence it consists of incredibly talented racers on a beautiful race course. Take in the sights and sounds in this excellent MXPTV-produced clip.
It's August, and for northern Nevada motocross that means it's time for a trip to the Fallon Fairgrounds. Click on the flyer below to get the details on this weekend's racing from the new NMXD web site.
This well-made clip features Mike Giese, a rider who competes on both motocross bikes and downhill mountain bikes. Giese seems pretty talented in both realms, and since I love both moto and downhill, this clip was a treat for me, and I suspect it might be for you too--even if the mountain bike thing is foreign to you.
OK, it turns out I had the wrong page for the Tech One story on Pulp MX. It turns out that this is the story, and it is way more informative than the one I listed in the last post.

Tech One Designs recently created these cool graphics for the guys at Pulp MX, the Steve Matthes-run web site and podcast. If any of you are familiar with Matthes and his work, you'll surely appreciate that this particular graphic set sports a Tim Ferry theme.
