When I heard Marysville, California's Riverfront Park was under new management, I wondered what was next for the venerable circuit, which has endured a chaotic stretch over the last few years. But then I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Armstrongs -- a longtime moto family based in northern Nevada -- were now at the helm.
I've known Zeb Armstrong and his parents since Zeb and I were on minis. After years at the local races, Zeb would go on to become a successful privateer on the AMA circuit before starting to teach MX lessons to local racers. Zeb's association with the local scene runs deep, and combined with his dedicated parents, Sue and Dale, I'm sure he will take Riverfront, an excellent track with a rich history, to new heights.
You can visit their new website and check out the details on the reopened track by clicking on the logo below.

As you've possibly heard, the BLM is considering putting the brakes on off-road events on public lands in our area. So be sure to sign the petition below when you see it in a local shop or business, or even print it out yourself and collect some signatures to help the cause.

Firstly, here's one of Jim Huebner's best from last week at Exit 28. This shot of Jesse Gore exemplifies both proper form and proper dirt. Click on the photo to see more of Jim's work from the weekend.
And secondly, here are the dealer standings for the series. Things are starting to tighten up a bit:

Northern Nevada favorite Bobby Garrison railed to the win at yesterday's WORCS race in Primm, Nevada, taking over the WORCS points lead with two rounds in the books. It looks as though Garrison, mounted on a privateer Kawasaki, is going to be a serious contender for the 2011 WORCS title.
Garrison won both motos on the weekend, and fellow northern Nevadan Justin Soule turned in a solid ride with fourth and fifth-place moto finishes, earning fourth overall and jumping to eighth in series points.
You can check out the full race report here on the WORCS web site.
Rising star Brian Sjogren had a good day at the REM race at Glen Helen last weekend, topping all the SoCal locals (and apparently a bunch of visiting Swedes) with a 3-1 moto score in the 450cc Pro class. Check out MXA's online report here.
And also take note of the blurb that mentions Sjogren's fast family, including big brother Tony Evans. Way to get some electronic ink, guys.
It was a good weekend for Bobby Garrison and Gared Steinke, both of whom have strong connections to our area (Garrison is from Sparks and Steinke rides for the Reno-based Sinnister Racing team.)
Garrison began his bid for the 2011 WORCS title with a strong third-place finish at the opening round in Taft, California. After a stint on Husqvarna, Garrison is now on Kawasaki, and the new ride seemed to agree with him nicely as he bested many of this year's other title favorites at the opener. And if you haven't seen his 2011 promo video yet, you can check it out here.
Steinke made his mark via an 11th place finish in the 250cc class at the AMA Supercross in Oakland, earning the first SX main-event appearance of his career. Steinke qualified with a ninth-place finish in Heat 2, and then posted some very impressive lap times in the main, with his fastest being less than two seconds slower than the fastest lap of race winner Broc Tickle.

As hard as it is for us to believe, not everyone loves supercross. Check out what one L.A. sportswriter wrote about the AMA Supercross Series as it visited Dodger Stadium for the first time last weekend.
Be warned, though--there is a whole lot of ignorance and blowhard griping going on here, and based on the report, I'm guessing he didn't even bother to stay for the race.
